Düsseldorf, May 30, 2023 - The brand-new MGI JETvarnish 3D Web 400 digital reel-to-reel finishing press won a coveted EDP Award in the "Digital Embellishment Packaging" category at DRUPA 2024 in Düsseldorf on Wednesday evening, in front of an audience of 200 select guests.
Since 2007, the EDP Awards have been the industry "s benchmark awards for digital printing. Organized by theEuropean Digital Press AssociationThe EDP Awards, an association of 20 European trade press titles, recognize the sector's most outstanding technical innovations in both hard- and software solutions.
The jury, made up of independent experts, examines around a hundred entries each year, using an analysis grid based on some thirty criteria, to select just 20 winners, who receive an EDP Award.
The JETvarnish 3D Web 400 breaks new ground in "Digital Embellishment Packaging".
At the end of the Jury's deliberations, MGI Digital received this year's EDP Award for its JETvarnish 3D Web 400, its latest reel-to-reel digital finishing press, a true concentrate of innovation.
The members of the EDP Awards highlighted the innovative Single Pass concept of the JETvarnish 3D Web 400 (selective UV varnish and hot foil stamping in a single pass), and its versatility of use with new Flexo and semi-rotary die-cutting modules.
They emphasized its ease of use (automatic setting on the fly, no need for screens and clichés), the high quality of its finishes (artificial intelligence-controlled registration, finesse and flatness) and the resulting cost savings.

The JETvarnish 3D Web 400 is MGI's second-generation reel-to-reel press.
In a single pass, it can apply 100% digital selective varnish AND hot foil stamping, flat or embossed, with or without variable data.
Optionally equipped with a flexo unit and a semi-rotary diecutter, it combines the best of digital and conventional printing, offering converters and printers a simple-to-use, reliable solution for top-quality finishing.
